Privacy Policy
Introduction
HANALABS SOLUTIONS (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED ("we", "our", or "us") operates the GitMirror application as a commercial service designed to help users securely back up their Git repositories. We take your privacy seriously, and this policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.
By using GitMirror, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. This policy is designed to comply with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
Information Collection and Use
We collect certain information from you to provide and enhance the GitMirror service. This includes both personally identifiable information (PII) and non-personally identifiable information, which may be collected in the following ways:
1. Information You Provide
When you sign up for GitMirror, integrate third-party services (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket), or communicate with us directly, we may collect the following information:
- Account Information: Your GitHub, Bitbucket, or other third-party service usernames, access tokens (which are securely encrypted), and related credentials for repository access.
- Contact Information: Your email address for account-related communications, such as notifications, billing, and support.
- Backup Metadata: Information about your repositories, such as repository names and structures, which is necessary for providing backup services.
2. Automatically Collected Information
When you use GitMirror, we may automatically collect certain information about your interaction with our service, including:
- Usage Data: Information such as the type of device you use, IP address, browser type, and operating system, which helps us improve our service and ensure it functions smoothly across different platforms.
- Log Data: Data such as your interactions with our service, including login timestamps, repository activity, and any errors encountered, which helps us identify and fix issues.
3. Analytics Information
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to collect non-personally identifiable information about user behavior on our website. This helps us understand how users interact with our service and allows us to improve the overall user experience.
Use of Collected Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing and Maintaining the Service: Ensuring that your repositories are backed up securely and efficiently.
- Service Improvement: Using aggregated data to optimize the performance, design, and functionality of GitMirror.
- Customer Support: Responding to inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and providing timely support.
- Security: Enhancing the security of your account and repositories by identifying and mitigating potential threats.
Third-Party Services and Integrations
To provide the GitMirror service, we rely on several trusted third-party services and integrations:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): We use AWS to host our servers and store your repository backups in a secure and reliable manner.
- Umami: We utilize Umami for anonymous, privacy-focused analytics to track user behavior on our website.
- Third-Party Integrations: GitMirror integrates with services such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Slack, and Microsoft Teams. These integrations allow you to back up your repositories and receive notifications. Please be aware that by using these integrations, you agree to the privacy policies of these services.
Storage
GitMirror offers two options for storing your repository backups:
-
GitMirror-Provided Storage: We provide storage through Amazon Web Services (AWS) for secure and scalable backups of your repositories. All repository data stored in GitMirror's infrastructure is encrypted and protected.
-
Custom Storage: Users have the option to bring their own storage solution, which can be integrated with GitMirror. We support storage options from major cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. By using custom storage, you are responsible for the security and management of your own storage services, though GitMirror will ensure integration and backup processes are handled securely.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law. Upon termination of your account, your data will be securely deleted from our systems, including your repository backups, unless legal obligations require otherwise.
Security of Your Information
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement reasonable measures to protect it. This includes encryption of sensitive data (such as access tokens) and secure storage on AWS. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Cookies
We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our website. Cookies are small files stored on your device that allow us to recognize you and track your usage of our service.
